What is this?

"More Than A Coin" is an open-software project to provide a database for organizations that match volunteers to client projects.

Is this for me?

More Than A Coin is for you if the following describes your organization:

  1. You have clients. They need stuff done.
  2. You have volunteers. They have a variety of skills that they're willing to donate.
  3. You have projects. Matching one volunteer to one client for a period of time can be called a project. Many volunteers may be working for a client at one time.
  4. You'd like to keep track of all of this.

Who is this guy?
Can you describe it briefly?

Think of managing data in three areas: clients, volunteers and projects. "More Than A Coin" starts with a major data table for each of these three areas. Each has descriptive data, so you can find, for example, all volunteers that mention 'web design' in their expertise. Each has a status, so you can find, for example, open projects or active clients.

Once some data has built up, you can use the analysis tools to answer questions like:

  • what's the total dollar value of services rendered each year?
  • which clients have the highest or lowest project outcome ratings?
  • which volunteers have been donating large amounts of time?

Access to the database is through any web browser, like Explorer or Firefox or Safari, controlled by password protection. No special software is installed on your computer.
